Abies nordmaniana Golden Spreader is an unusual form of one of the popular Christmas tree varieties. It has bright gold needles season round, and tends to grow as a flat topped bush. Slow to start with, but eventually makes a plant of about 150cm wide by 90cm tall. It can exceed this, and as with all Abies it is important to watch out for bolting upright shoots which need to be cut out, although I have rarely seen them in this form. A mature specimen is a very striking plant indeed, and generate as much comment and appreciation as I have heard about any conifer!
