Hosta One Man’s Treasure, is another variety in my favourite Hosta colour – green! It is a medium sized Hosta, with red speckled petioles, the speckling extending visibly into the base of the leaf, nice veining, a gentle weave to the leaf and a pleasing satiny gloss. I believe the story about it is that Bob Solberg found it in Herb Benedict’s chucking out pile, as Herb didn’t think it was good enough to name, thus we can apply to it that “One man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure”. Although as we are in the 21st century now, perhaps it should be ‘person’ instead of man. Maybe there we have the start of the name of a future Hosta variety!
