Hosta Designer Genes is an unusually coloured mid sized Hosta.Emerges very bright gold, with red petioles, but towards mid summer the leaves take on more of a greenish beige hue, and the strong flower scape emerges more of a Beaujolais red than burgundy, overall a very effective combination. I’ve found this plant to be a very good grower, and looks superb in a pot. Highly recommended. It is quite early to emerge, so best in a sheltered position with some fleece to hand in the spring.
