Good alternative to the ubiquitous Leylandii.Somewhat slower top make the height but fills in better as it grows. It has the distinct advantage that, unlike Cupressocyparis and Chamycyparis hedging it can be cut back into ‘old wood’ (older branches/twigs without foliage) and will happily regenerate. It is also more tolerant of a wider range of conditions in general. Ideal for hedges from about 150cm/ 5ft upwards. Foliage has a lovely scent when crushed, a sort of resinous pineapple aroma.
