Product Description
Iris chrysographes Black Knight is a favourite of mine. Forms a reasonably vigorous clump of broad grassy leaves, topped in late May by many smallish typical iris flowers, which are a rich dark velvety purple. It really needs a fairly moist soil with plenty of organic matter, and it performs very well as a container plant. I find some of the iris, including this one and Sibiricas, make excellent companion plants for Hostas. This one would be particularly good with blue leaved varieties.
