Hosta Moonlight is a subtly attractive variety. A sport of Gold Standard, registered way back in 1977, which is almost prehistory in Hosta terms. Basically a flattish gold leaf, but the margin is superb. A clean white edge, such as every man would like to see in his freshly laundered shirts. Between this edge and the main leaf centre is a feint shading of dark green, inherited from the green border parent variety, which really makes a sharp contrast. In my experience this variety is somewhat less vigorous than Gold Standard, and it really needs careful positioning, dappled shade or morning sun, to bring out it’s true beauty.
